Mothers Day 2010

My Mothers Day went a little bit like this......

Woke up with a cat sitting on my chest meowing for breakfast. Tried to ignore cat and loud, obnoxious meowing. Fed the cat. Came downstairs to fresh picked flowers from my yard, homemade cards from kids, and breakfast from hubby. (I dont eat breakfast, so this is quite the challenge every year) Assured all kids that all their cards were my favorite. Did the dishes. 2 kids fighting. Put them on time out. Did a load of laundry. Cleaned the cat litter. Took out the trash. 2 different kids fighting. Watched Spongebob. Watched highlights of the Jazz losing. Watched highlights of the Dodgers losing. Made 2 batches of playdough. 3rd kid sad since i didnt have enough ingredients for her playdough. Went to store for ingredients. Made more playdough. Took a shower. Put dinner in the crock pot. 1 kid sick and staying home from church. Late for church. Left church early. Went back to store for key ingredient for dinner. (yes thats twice on a sunday) Had fight with son to get homework done or he cant go to grandmas. Watched Dodgers win. Ate one of my favorite dinners. Did dishes-again. Went to moms for dessert. Didnt get any dessert, they ran out. Came home and geared up for bedtime fight/routine. Found movies for kids to fall asleep to. Snuggle time with each kid which i say will only be a minute, but ends up being at least 15 minutes per kid. Hugs and kisses. Ahh ME time! Watched Amazing Race. Watched my favorite team on Amazing Race--the cowboys--lose to the stupid brothers. One last handful of m&ms and drag my tired butt to bed. Read. Fall asleep. Minus the flowers and cards, it seems Mothers Day is like any other day of the week! A mothers job is never done. Its the most under appreciated, unrecognized, never ending job there is. I love my job!!

Easter 2010

Ah the annual Deucher Easter Candy Hunt! Its not so much an egg hunt, or a hunt at all since candy is just spread all over the yard, but the kids love it. Parker and Spenc were at baseball practice so they missed out on the loot.

Spenc & his snake

Spenc got a ball python for his 10th bday, and its actually a really cool pet! Never thought I'd like a snake...

Cake

I've never made a cake for my kids birthdays. I usually leave that to the professionals, but I decided to take a crack at it for Vannas bday. Here's my version of a bear cake :) She even made a bear at Build a Bear that looked like her cake!

Vanna Baptism

What a special experience to have my only daughter baptized! Helping her get dressed and seeing how excited she was is something I'll never forget. She truly was princess for a day!

Build a Bear party

build a bear was a super fun party! The kids loved it. Zachy was so happy to be included with all the girls.

Savannahs 8th Bday

For the last year, Vanna has been asking to get her ears pierced. I had to wait til I was 12, so I told her thats how long she'll have to wait. She's pointed out many girls that are younger than she is and many babies who already have their ears pierced, while she will have to wait til shes 12, which may as well be forever! So on her 8th bday I picked her up from school and suprised her with the news that we're going to the mall to pierce her ears. She made many phone calls after to tell how brave she was that she didnt even flinch when they pierced them. I've had many regrets since piercing them, since she is so diligent about cleaning them 3 times a day like they told her. She's driving me crazy with "Mom, we need to do my ears!"
