Squirrel!!

So after working so hard on our very 1st garden, imagine my dismay at discovering all my lettuce and many other plants were being eaten. I mean here one day, and munched to the ground the next. I then noticed a squirrel running thru the yard, and sometimes in my garage. Based on my knowledge of rodents and furry creatures liking and eating carrots and other garden plants (that i picked up from an entire childhood of bugs bunny cartoons) i deduced it simply must be the squirrel whos using my garden as his own personal all you can eat salad bar. The kids did some detective work and informed me that we have an entire family of squirrels living under my shed. 4 to be exact. The kids then set about catching them in a trap. Ha! I said. Theyre much to smart to fall for your trap! Well, apparently peanut butter is far too tempting for them. They caught this little one they called Little Mary. (they named the others Big Papa, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. After catching it they decided just to let it go, back to the feast of my garden.

Broken arm

Of course we were at a baseball game and Savannah was riding her scooter when she hit a bump and the scooter went one way and she went the other way. I knew her wrist hurt, and she babied it, even when we weren't looking. But i wanted to make sure it was "real" and not just attention getting pain. So, after a week i finally took her in to the doctor. Um, yes it was broken. She was pretty excited to have a cast, and had the color all picked out, but since it was a minor break we opted for the splint. Its hard like a cast, but she can take it off to bathe or swim. Thats ideal in the summer!

Baseball City Champs!

Orem Tiger teamates played eachother for the championship

Parkers Angels team went undefeated this season, 16-0 and won the city championship...again! Last year this team won the championship, and only 4 players from that original team remained on this team this year. Steve was coaching and from day 1 had expectations of winning back to back trophies. He was right. It was a great season, and Parker hit his 1st home run (over the fence) this year. The final game came down to Angels vs Nationals. Our Angels had 5 players from our Orem Tiger team, and the Nationals had 2 players from the Tigers. They're all friends, which made the game that much more fun, or competitive. In the 1st inning, Paxton hit a 3 run homer, then Kory hit a 2 run homer, and the score remained 3-2 the whole game. Then in the bottom of the 6th and last inning, we tied it up. We then got bases loaded, and Kory came up with 2 outs, full count and hit a walk off grand slam to win the game. It was AWESOME! What a great way to end a great season! Way to go Angels and Parker!!

how wud you like to see this in your yard

For Spencers 11th birthday we had a company called Scales and Tails come to our house and bring with them several snakes and reptiles including a turtle, monitor lizards, and even a 12 foot long burmese python. It was one of the coolest parties ever! They put on a show that was funny, entertaining, and informative. Spenc got to hold all the animals in the show. Then at the end there was about 20 minutes where all the kids got to hold and touch the animals....well the nice ones anyway :) Considering how much Spenc loves reptiles, and his favorite channel is Animal Planet, and how much knowledge he has about them, this was the best birthday ever!

Watching Zachy play t-ball is very entertaining. He's watched enough of his brothers baseball games to have knowledge of the game, and to think hes an all star :)
